Harvest Festival Remembered
What a joy it was to gather last weekend for our annual Harvest Festival. Highlights included the decorations of garland and hay bales, the excellent staging of the play, teacher Shannon’s sharing on the St. Michael archetype, the bountiful potluck with rich presentation of soup, and the fun, professional music and dance. Thank you to every one who made this lovely event possible. In these gatherings I am always filled with gratitude for the beauty and capacity of our Blue Oak community.

Mrs. Chew's second grade class is at it again this year with their Halloween Costume Resale. Media/violence free costumes will be on sale in the back on pizza Thursdays and everyday after school out front starting October 22nd. If you have a costume to donate please do so in the box up in the front office right next to Beth.
Mr. Gilmore our games teachers reports that games classes are going well and that students are striving to learn the basics so that they can move on to more challenging activities. He needs students to come to class with shoes appropriate for physical activity. Many students have been coming to the office during games class lately to call home on this issue. Please make sure your student is prepared with closed-toe shoes.
If you have not already received a list of planned field trips for the year and their approximate cost, expect to receive one soon from your class teacher. Field trips are a vital element in the curriculum at a Waldorf inspired school and we want all students to participate. If you do not intend to pay for your students’ fieldtrips, make sure you are communicating with other parents about fundraising for your class. This is very important to our school’s fiscal well being.
We are delighted to announce the hiring of Summer O’Neill and Monica McDaniel-Berg who will share the newly created Community Coordinator position. These two parents bring a wealth of expertise to volunteerism, communication, community building, and outreach in our school. Thank you both!
