The Leaves 10.22.12
Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 08:33AM Tuesday’s planned picture day make up has been rescheduled for Tuesday, October 30th due to rain.
Last week’s gathering to recognize student achievement on our recently published California Standardized Test scores attracted the attention of the Enterprise Record. Journalist Roger H. Aylworth published a news piece titled “Blue Oak celebrates sharp jump in test scores” in the October 19th paper. It included a photo of our accomplished students showing great enthusiasm for the camera! Also, KNVN News showed a clip of the event in their 6:30 broadcast on Thursday. We are hoping to receive a link to that clip soon.
Sure, nobody likes to get out of bed when it’s raining, and I know I was shuffling around in the garage at 7:25 trying to find rain coats, but we had more than 55 tardies today and a 10% absence rate- not our best day. Since we know the change in weather can slow us all down, please make the extra effort to get to school on time.
The day after Halloween has been declared a school-wide Pajama Day. We will also be offering half-price pizza and the Jamba Juice class attendance award will be given this day as well.
Speaking of Halloween, teachers will be putting on a skit for students after the Halloween costume parade scheduled for 1:30 on October 31st. This is, of course, no substitute for the marvelous Halloween Festival that we have enjoyed in the past, but will be a generous and undoubtedly entertaining offering by our creative and talented faculty. Families are welcome to join us for this event.
